WCA is partnering with the Association of Reef Keepers’, Ridge to Reef Programme to design stormwater management features for the new British Virgin Islands Humane Society facility on Tortola.
The facility will be located in the Josiah’s Bay watershed which drains to the second largest wetland pond on the island. This is a fragile habitat and is threatened by mismanaged, impervious surface runoff.
Treatment features proposed for this facility involve Green Stormwater Infrastructure practices including a bioretention, cistern, and level spreader to manage the site’s runoff and protect the watershed’s wetland pond.
This poster describes the project and was recently showcased at a Humane Society fundraising event.More information here
